Confession:

I have never had so much as a sip of egg nog in my entire life.  It’s not really a conscious decision.  I’ve just never had the opportunity to try it.  I’ve never tried any kind of nog, now that I think about it.  Although, I’m not entirely sure if there are any other kinds of nog besides egg.

If there is a hole in your life, I think this movie might fill it.  I love it more than any film I’ve ever seen.  Period.
(it’s Joe Versus the Volcano, by the way)

eats

Tonight’s Pizza Club meeting has been cancelled in favor of Curry Club. Ashley and I braved the blizzard to gather all the necessary supplies. I’m more excited about this than any sane person should be about food. But, come on. Green Thai Curry Club!

A devout Hindu, Gandhi was dedicated to the caste system ingrained in the culture of the time — so much so that his famous hunger strike began not to protest British atrocities, as immortalized in the Ben Kingsley movie, but actually to oppose greater rights for the lowly Untouchables caste. British doctors criticized Gandhi for allegedly letting his wife die of pneumonia, because he refused to allow her to receive penicillin, believing it to be an alien Western treatment. Yet not long after that, he gladly accepted quinine to fight his own case of malaria.
— Gandhi was kind of a dick…

sugar daddy

Cody gave me $20 last night.  Out of nowhere.  He just said, “I have something for you,” and handed me a twenty.  It was strange, I think.  People have given me gifts before, but nobody has ever just handed me money for no good reason.  I told him I was probably just going to put it towards his Christmas presents, but he insisted I use it on myself.  I tried to give it back three times, and he just kept handing it to me.  I don’t know why I’m so weirded out by that.  I’m a very lucky girl.

Dear City of Topeka,

luckyshadow:

djritzcarlton:

(or whoever is in charge of sending out the fleet of snow plows after a blizzard)

I understand that the school where I work is in the poorest neighborhood in the city.  I do not, however, understand why this means we don’t need our roads plowed.  A ten car teacher pile-up due to unsafe driving conditions would be some pretty serious blood on your hands.

Sincerely,

Someone-Who-Left-30-Minutes-Early-For-Work-This-Morning-Because-She-Knew-None-Of-The-Roads-By-Her-Job-Would-Be-Plowed

None of the streets in town looked like they had been plowed at 630 this morning. Just driven up and down a few times. Thank goodness for my Jeep!

Think 501 is saving up the snow day for tomorrow, after we’re supposed to get another half a foot of snow?

GOD I hope so!  All after school activities have already been cancelled, as well as the Boys and Girls club buses and tutoring.  I think the superintendent is slowly realizing that not calling a snow day today was probably a mistake.
